Easy Home-made Drinks to Stay Healthy during Pregnancy

What you drink and eat during pregnancy directly affects your baby’s growth. Not all drinks are equally healthy when it comes to pregnancy. But you should drink ‘right’ to have a healthy pregnancy. So what drinks should be a part of your pregnancy diet? Read further to find out!

Suggested Drinks During Pregnancy:

1. Water with Frozen Fruits

During pregnancy, the demand for water rises. H2O is important for your blood cells. It also prevents dehydration which may lead to premature labor. Take a glass of water and add fresh frozen fruits like orange, kiwi, peach, and apricot. The frozen fruits look mouth-watering floating in the crystal clear water. Make sure that you use filtered water and fruits are properly washed with filtered water.

2. Coconut water

Here is another healthy way to prevent dehydration. Coconut water is a natural isotonic drink. It restores natural salts in the body. So, next time when you feel thirsty, grab a glass of fresh coconut water.

3. Lemonade

In summers, a glass of chilled lemonade is all one needs. This is a great way to stay hydrated. Lemon juice is a rich source of Vitamin C. If morning sickness is pushing you down, charge yourself with a glass of lemonade.

4. Milk and milk-based drinks

A glass of milk daily keeps you active and fit. If milk is not your cup of tea, you can go for other milk-based drinks like milkshakes or fruit smoothies made with milk, yogurt, and fruits rich in minerals and nutrients. You can relish these drinks between meals.

5. Home-Made Fruit juices

We all know that fruits are good for our health. Fresh fruit juices are a great source of vitamins and minerals. So dust your juicer and start juicing! But have a home-made fruit juice and not packed ones.

6. Home-made Vegetable juice

Vegetables are essential for a balanced pregnancy diet. The best way to include veggies in your diet is vegetable juices! So grab a few carrots, beetroot, and tomatoes and have a glass of this healthy drink daily. So, get started.

7. Ice tea

Nothing can beat a big glass of ice tea. It is an effective remedy to treat morning sickness. Note that this drink contains caffeine so have this healthy drink in moderation.

Drinks To Avoid During Pregnancy:

Now that you know what you should drink during pregnancy, let’s take a look at what drinks are a big “NO” during pregnancy:

1. Alcohol

Even moderate consumption of alcohol is unsafe during pregnancy. Excessive alcohol consumption may lead to fetal alcohol syndrome. But do you know that even limited exposure to alcohol in the womb hampers growth as well as intellectual and behavioral problems in the unborn baby.

2. Herbal Teas

You always thought that herbal were safe? Not really! There are mixed opinions on effects of herbal tea on would-be mothers. So it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

3. Energy Drinks

You may feel dehydrated and weak during pregnancy. But energy drinks are not the “right” choice. These drinks may have caffeine, sugar and other supplements. It’s always better to stick to healthier drinks instead!

So what are you waiting for? Start drinking healthy and give your baby the best life.
