Of every 100 couples reporting to fertility clinics, 40 percent are cases of male infertility, 50 percent are of women, and the remaining 10 percent of both partners being infertile with unknown causes.

Coping with infertility is indeed one of the greatest challenges that a couple faces. Nowadays effective treatments and alternative options are also available to couples to explore their chances of conception. Some of the infertility causes are described as:

Stress: is one of the major factors causing infertility. Stress, good or bad, is going to take its toll on you both physically and mentally. Positive and calm are crucial part of trying to conceive. Instead of altering your day-to-day routine entirely, go for counseling, art therapy, meditation and exercise to reduce stress levels.

Being Overweight or underweight: being too thin or too heavy can disrupt the hormonal function. Sometimes, being over or under weight might also stand in the way of getting pregnant for the woman. A woman who is overweight may have difficultly to conceive a baby. Excess weight can have a significant effect on fertility. Maintain a healthy diet and make a habit of daily exercise that will do wonders for your mind and body.

Blocked or Damaged Fallopian Tubes: Blockage of tubes is the most common problem found in women. It prevents the mature egg to reach to the uterus, and the sperm thus creates obstruction in fertilization and eventually fails to result pregnancy. IVF or In vitro fertilization is the most common treatment options for women with tubal problems to achieve successful pregnancy.

Endometriosis: a condition when the lining inside the uterus grows outside the womb and causing pelvic pain especially associated with menstruation. Infertility is a common side effect. Many women wanting to get pregnant in such a situation can undergo advanced fertility treatment like In vitro fertilisation (IVF). IVF work wonders for most women and the effectiveness of such treatment is highly individualized.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: is a condition in which a woman’s levels of the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone are out of balance. Women with PCOS may have enlarged ovaries that contain small collections of fluid – called follicles – located in each ovary as seen during an ultrasound exam. Treatment for PCOS can help you look and feel better and even help you with fertility issues.
