How skin changes during Pregnancy?
Skin changes during pregnancy is a special phase for every woman. The journey of becoming a mother is never easy. You can never expect a smooth path. Apart from the general conditions of morning sickness and uncontrollable cravings, you may observe difference in your skin as well. These changes are temporary and disappear with time.
Acnes all over your body:
It is normal to notice acnes or pimples all over your body as your hormones are in a turmoil during this phase and your body is full of unwanted elements that need to be flushed out. However, these acnes do not last for a lifetime. They vanish once you deliver your baby. Till then, avoid taking too much stress as it may trigger more acne.
Changing Skin color:
You may see slight discoloration on some parts of your body. It is majorly due to the hormonal imbalance which causes many physical changes. Having a well-nourished diet, staying hydrated and avoiding worries can help you cope up with the fluctuating hormonal level. Also, avoid long-time exposure to sun as it promotes melanin production making your skin look darker or uneven.
Popping up of veins:
You might not like your veins becoming visible but it is for a short term as they vanish soon leaving no visible marks behind.
Some home remedies for treating varicose veins:
- A gentle massage improves blood circulation.
- Take multivitamin supplements rich in B-complex vitamins, B6 (Pyridoxine), B9 (Folic acid) and B12 (Cobalamin).
- Walking or slight stretching and staying active throughout the day promotes better blood flow.
Stretch Marks:
The biggest fear for pregnant women is stretch marks which induce stress level. There are many safe-to-use creams available to cure post pregnancy stretch marks.
Sensitive Skin:
It is common for your skin to turn extra sensitive when you are pregnant. You can use heavy moisturizing creams that will keep your skin hydrated, moisturized and healthy. Make sure the cream does not have parabens or any chemicals that may have a negative effect on you and your baby.
Closing Thoughts
Your body observes lot of changes and there is little you can do about it. However, I would suggest you to maintain regular follow-ups with your gynaecologist for a healthy pregnancy. You should have nothing to worry about and rather focus on becoming a happy mother once your bundle of joy arrives.
