IVF FAQs (In Vitro Fertilization )
How long does IVF Process take ?
In vitro fertilization process typically takes from 4 to 6 weeks prior to egg retrieval. The embryos created from the sperm and egg are then transferred anywhere 3-5 days later. However, timelines can vary based on individual factors such as the patient’s response to medications.
What are my choices if my tubes have been tied ?
What is your age cut-off for doing IVF with my own eggs ?
Age plays a significant role in IVF success. It depends on the AMH level of the patient. However, many women come to us whose age is over 32 and they have been successfully conceived with their own eggs after going through IVF.
How many embryos do you transfer to the IVF Patient ?
The number of embryos transferred depends on multiple factors, including the patient’s age, the quality of the embryos, and medical history. Generally, our embryologists transfer anywhere from two to three 2-3 embryos only at one time.
Do we have to be extra careful during IVF treatment particularly after the transfer of embryo to ensure its implantation ?
Being a patient undergoing IVF treatment, there is actually nothing you can do – medically nor practically – after the transfer of the embryo to aid its implantation. After the embryo transfer, some patients take bed rest and believe they can have a positive influence on the chances of success of the treatment. However, there is no indication that this would lead to an increased chance of pregnancy. It also makes no sense at all to feel guilty if the implantation doesn’t occur: your behaviour certainly has nothing to do with it.
when will I know if I’m pregnant ? After embryo transfer,
After the embryo transfer, pregnancy test is done after 14 days after embryo transfer. Overall, it takes 2 or 3 months to confirm pregnancy.
Can I still go for IVF if I had a hysterectomy ?
Is it possible to do IVF without removing myoma (fibroids)?
Not all fibroids affect fertility, A uterine myoma (fibroids in uterus) is a benign growth of smooth muscle in the wall of the uterus. Myoma usually grows during pregnancy when the body is producing extra estrogen. It does not affect pregnancy all the time. We suggest you to remove the myoma and then prepare for the in vitro fertilization.
Can fibroids interfere with IVF ?
Can I exercise while I’m undergoing IVF treatment ?
Yes, Mild workouts (exercise) such as walking, swimming, yoga, or cycling is safe during IVF treatment. Avoid high impact workout as they can stress the ovaries, especially during ovarian stimulation when the ovaries are enlarged.
